Implementing a microwave-based alumina calcination, capable of reaching temperatures up to 1000°C and utilising up to 70 kW of power.

The design will incorporate a dynamic coupling system for the microwave applicator to adapt to dielectric changes, real-time control of thermal and electromagnetic signals with automatic adjustment, and an accurate feeding system with residence time control.

eLITHE will demonstrate the key innovations in microwave-based alumina calcination:

  • The MW applicator will have a dynamic coupling system to adapt to the dielectric changes of the material.
  • The furnace will count with real time control system of thermal and electromagnetic signals with automatic adjustment.
  • The furnace will incorporate a feeding system with accurate residence time.

DIGITAL TWIN

The digital twin will track the furnace processes to gather detailed insights and facilitate the scaling up of the technology.
