SPAIN

Implementing an advanced electric heating melting solution for ceramic smelter, capable of melting frits up to 1500°C.

The furnace design will combine heat transfer through induction and electrode-heating methods, reducing direct GHG emissions by 1,260 tons per year per furnace in Spain.

IMPLEMENTED TECHNOLOGY

Induction and electrode-based heating technology for frits melting

eLITHE will advance in a 200-kW smelter for 200 kg/h.

  • The electrodes will provide heat by radiation, which is the main heat source to heat the frit. The electrodes will include singular power electronics in order to control individually the power supply.
  • The furnace will rely on auxiliary burners to start up the furnace and for back-up.
  • The induction system will be used to maintain the fluidity of the molten frit and control the temperature profile.

DIGITAL TWIN

The digital twin will track the furnace processes to gather detailed insights and facilitate the scaling up of the technology.
