In this fourth edition of the eLITHE newsletter, we share the latest progress of the project in supporting the electrification of high-temperature heat in the ceramics industry.

eLITHE meets at KTH in Stockholm: project partners advance electric high-temperature solutions for the ceramics industry

On 3–4 March 2026, eLITHE partners met at KTH in Stockholm to review progress and discuss the next stages of the project. The meeting offered an important opportunity for consortium members to align technical activities, exchange knowledge and strengthen cooperation across the different areas of work.

eLITHE pilot-tests three electricity–hydrogen hybrid burner concepts for ceramic kilns

Among the project’s latest technical developments is the testing of three hybrid electricity–hydrogen burner concepts for ceramic kilns. This work represents an important step in exploring flexible and practical pathways for decarbonising high-temperature ceramic processes.

Webinar highlights the feasibility of high-temperature heat electrification

A recent eLITHE webinar brought together experts to discuss the technical feasibility of electrifying high-temperature heat in industry. The event provided an opportunity to share knowledge, discuss current challenges and highlight the potential of electrification technologies for energy-intensive sectors.

Reflective ceramic glazes to fight building overheating: a study from the eLITHE project

eLITHE is also contributing to research on advanced ceramic materials with potential benefits beyond industrial heat processes. One recent study explored the use of reflective ceramic glazes to help reduce building overheating. The findings show how ceramic innovation can support improved thermal performance in the built environment, contributing to greater energy efficiency and climate adaptation.
